Defon Hydrogen Coolers Support Taipingling Nuclear Power – Full Commissioning of "Hualong One" Dual Units

On August 3, 2026, Unit 2 of the CGN Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Plant was officially put into operation, marking the successful completion of the first phase of the first "Hualong One" project in the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area.

In this major national project, Defon Hubei Heat Exchanger Co., Ltd. provided eighthydrogen coolers for the two units, contributing to the smooth progress of the project.

From April to August — Witnessing the Shine of Two "Hualong" Stars

On April 20, 2026, Unit 1 of the Taipingling Nuclear Power Project was commissioned, becoming the first "Hualong One" nuclear power unit in the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area. Just over three months later, Unit 2 followed suit and was officially put into operation. Both units adopt China's domestically developed third‑generation nuclear power technology "Hualong One," with over 90% of core equipment localized. Each unit has a rated electrical power of approximately 1,200 MW. With the full commissioning of both units in Phase I, the project will deliver over 18 billion kWh of clean electricity to the Greater Bay Area annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by approximately 16.63 million tonnes per year.

The hydrogen coolers used in the Taipingling project are critical components of the generator's internal cooling system, responsible for removing heat generated by the rotor windings to ensure stable generator operation under rated conditions. Defon tailored high‑performance hydrogen coolers to meet the demands of large‑capacity nuclear units, achieving full compliance in both heat exchange efficiency and structural strength. The company employed stringent gas‑tight and anti‑corrosion processes to eliminate hydrogen leakage risks at the source, ensuring trouble‑free operation.

A Long‑standing Commitment to Nuclear Power – Products Widely Trusted

Over the years, Defon has continuously deepened its R&D and manufacturing capabilities in nuclear power heat‑exchange equipment, undertaking multiple major national projects. The company's products have been supplied to several nuclear units, including Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant, and have provided 10 hydrogen cooler heat exchangers for the Lianjiang Nuclear Power Plant's million‑kilowatt units. In addition, Defon's products are also being deployed in other key nuclear projects under construction, such as Guangdong Lufeng Nuclear Power Plant.

Defon firmly believes that in major national projects, every screw has its value. We are committed to being that reliable screw, contributing a modest but steadfast effort to the localization of China's energy equipment with solid manufacturing capabilities.
